The Old Olive Oil Mill is certainly the pride of the museums of Melissa. The building was donated to the municipality of Melissa by the heirs of the wealthy Ferraro family of Melissa.
It is an industrial-archaeological museum which displays the whole cold extraction process for producing olive oil, right from the moment the olives were crushed in the old millstone that is still intact. The museum aims to offer detailed knowledge of the history of local agriculture, from its primitive origins to its more modern industrialized form.
